How To Make Fried Rice? Fried Rice is one of Nigeria’s famous delicacies. This is one of many Nigerians favorite food and it is serving in almost all special occasions and even festive seasons. Nigerian fried rice is very easy to make and it requires just about 45 minutes to prepare.

The Nigerian Fried Rice is adored by Nigerians both in the country and abroad and the recipe is very easy to cook.  It doesn’t require much and it only takes a few vegetables, chicken, and rice to make. Ingredients To Make Fried Rice

To be able to make one of the famous Nigerian delicacies, you need to have some set of ingredients prepared and they include:

  • 4 cups of rice.
  • 2 cups of sliced carrots.
  • 5 cups of sliced cabbage.
  • 2 cups of sliced green beans.
  • Vegetable oil (200ml).
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Half a cup of peas.
  • 1 cup of sliced green pepper.
  • 2kgof Chicken.
  • 1 cup of sliced onions.
  • 2 tablespoon Curry powder.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Dried thyme.
  • Ground ginger powder.
  • Chicken broth.
  • Sweet corn.
  • Fresh prawn.
  • Spring onions.

These are the ingredients that are very important when you want to make Nigerian fried rice. You can choose to use turkey or meat if you don’t like chicken.

Prepare Your Ingredient

After getting your ingredients in place, you need to start preparing to make the fried rice. Most Nigerian dish requires that you boil the chicken or meat first which will be used to serve the fried rice. It is very common to serve fried chicken or turkey along with fried rice.

Step 1: boil the chicken and the liver together along with the spices which include a teaspoon of thyme spice, a teaspoon of salt, a teaspoon of curry,  half a cup of sliced onions, two seasoning cubes, and garlic or ginger. Then allow the chicken to cook for 10 minutes. Taste if the salt is too much and then once it is boiled you can fry the chicken. Make sure that you keep the chicken stock.

Step 2: chop the carrot, green beans. Cabbage, liver and set them aside in a tray. The process is very easy and all you need is a knife and chopping board. Remove the seeds from the green pepper and slice it.

Step 3: parboil the rice and cook it with the chicken stock. Use two cups of water to boil to cook the rice and wait until it is about half done.

Once you have all the ingredients prepared, then you can move on to the next steps of cooking the fried rice.

How to Cook Fried Rice

After preparing the ingredients and parboiling the rice, the next step will show you how to make one of the best delicacies in Nigeria- Nigerian Fried Rice.

Step 1: Put your cooking pot on heat and allow it to dry, then you can pour about 200ml of vegetable oil in the pot. You can also use the same oil that you used to fry the chicken. However, make sure that you reduce it to 200ml.

Step 2: While the oil is hot, you can add the minced onions and stir for about a minute or two.

Step 3: Afterward, add the chopped vegetables and then add the sweet corn and chopped liver and stir-fry.  Then add the chicken stock along with the ground pepper ( this is optional), add one seasoning cube and one teaspoon of salt. Then you stir and taste. You can add more salt if you like

Step 4: Add the parboiled rice and stir. Stir it all together with the vegetables and then add your dried seasoning such as thyme and curry and leave it to simmer for about 5 minutes.  Mix it all well and check if the salt is too much and adjust it.

Step 5: When it is done, you can serve the fried rice with the fried chicken or grilled chicken. You can also add coleslaw as a side dish and serve it along with your fried rice.
